For Young Adult Readers - In order to expand my repertoire into book cover design I decided to make up some titles that would easily allow me to create some designs for the Young Adult Book market. The majority of the YA market is girls and young women aged 10 - 18. Naturally these book designs are focused on that group of people. In order to create these covers, I used my skills as a retoucher and illustrator to create compelling images that would create a juicy narrative. A title's tone can change completely depending on the image that acts as a context. Therefore, I made sure to decide on the title first, then a short summary of each story, and then a choice of image to round out the narrative.
Fire With Fire - two red headed popular girls first wreak havoc in vacationland with gossip and tricks, but they get a taste of their own medicine.
Long Distance - Kallie doesn't want to leave New York and go back to her suburban life when summer vacation ends. In Nw York she got a taste of what it was to be somebody. Can she take her newfound courage and boyfriend back upstate to her small town? And can they handle it?
It's 1988 and Fabulous Natalie is queen of the high school. Long Beach California is the best queendom a girl could ask for and she has everything she wants and everyone right where she wants them. But her best friend, and soon to be worst enemy, is looking to steel the throne.
The Beat is always thumping at School of the Arts. And this year, there's a new student in class. The Dance department has no idea what it's in for!
